Breslow looks to make a difference off the field
NEW YORK — Craig Breslow, a 26th-round Draft choice in 2002 by the Brewers, has been released once, plus waived three times and, despite it all, is in his sixth season pitching in the Major Leagues. That’s quite the life lesson — which he insists should never be confused with life-and-death lessons.
His Strike 3 Foundation has raised more than $600,000 in three years to fight pediatric cancers. Even during the baseball season, Breslow makes certain he spends at least an hour a day on the foundation, planning, calling, and answering emails at 3 a.m. after the next flight to the next city.
