Red Sox pitcher Craig Breslow to gift $10,000 for children’s ultrasounds
Lee Memorial Health System Foundation is honored to announce a very special gift to benefit children in Southwest Florida who have been diagnosed with cancer and are receiving treatment at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.
Craig Breslow, pitcher for the Boston Red Sox and executive director of the Strike 3 Foundation, will provide $10,000 to purchase two PreVue Ultrasound Systems for the hospital. The technology aids in the treatment of children who endure frequent blood draws and infusion treatments. It will aid nurses and physicians in finding veins that are too deep to be seen by the naked eye or via a traditional vein viewer, especially in some of the hospital’s tiniest of patients.
“When I founded Strike 3 Foundation in 2008, I did so with a compelling inspiration to reciprocate my good fortune. Privileged by a healthy and prosperous upbringing, yet forever touched by the childhood cancer of my sister, I now seek to raise awareness and support for the devastating disease of pediatric cancer,” said Breslow.
The Strike 3 Foundation is a charitable agency recognized by the IRS under non-profit status that heightens awareness, mobilizes support, and raises funding for pediatric cancer research. It has raised more than $2 million to support kids with cancer.
The Lee Memorial Health System Foundation has shared a longtime partnership with the Boston Red Sox and hosts a number of Spring Training events each year to benefit the Golisano Children’s Hospital.
