Strike 3 Appoints Timothy C. Tyson to Board of Directors
Trumbull, Connecticut, January 7, 2011 – The Strike 3 Foundation a charitable organization that mobilizes support, heightens awareness, and raises funding for pediatric cancer research, today, announced the appointment of Timothy C. Tyson to its Board of Directors.
"The expansion of Strike 3’s Board of Directors to include Tim ensures that this organization will be infused with new ideas and opinions. Tim brings a unique perspective and relevant experience to our Board," said Craig Breslow, Chief Executive Officer, Strike 3 Foundation.
Tyson, is Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Aptuit, an integrated pharmaceutical services company. Prior to joining Aptuit’s Executive Committee, Tyson served as COO, President, and CEO of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, where he led a major restructuring of the company, and achieved a growth in sales of 69% and earnings increase of 135%. Mr. Tyson has also held Corporate Executive positions at GlaxoSmithKline and Bristol Myers. Tyson graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1974 and served on active duty as an officer in the United State Army from 1974 – 1979. Additionally, Tyson has served on the Board of Directors for Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturing Association (PhRMA); BICOM; CEO Roundtable for the University of California at Irvine; Dean’s Executive Forum at Cal State Fullerton; CEO Council on Cancer; Health Sector Advisory Board at Duke University; Leadership Forum of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers; and as a visiting lecturer at Cambridge University.

The addition increases the total number of Strike 3 Directors to 10. In addition to Tyson, the members of Strike 3 are Craig Breslow, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, Joe Lizza, Chief
Operating Officer, Abe Breslow, Executive Vice President, Robert Baratta, attorney, Andrew Bailey, Director of Development, Tim Baratta, attorney, Elizabeth Upton, treasurer, William Chin, and Dr. Katherine Van Loon, oncologist.
