Isaias Valentin (9/9/99 - 9/5/09) was being treated for a rare and aggresive form of cancer at the Yale New Haven Children's Hospital when he passed away days before his 10th birthday. He was a source of courage and inspiration to all who knew him.

Just two months after losing her son, his mother, Jeneen, spoke at the Second Annual First Pitch Gala in a remarkable showing of bravery and strength.

The Strike 3 Foundation has established the Isaias Valentin Award recognizing courage, vivacity, and inspiration.
