Boston Red Sox Closer Andrew Bailey hosted the first annual Bailey Bowl and was joined by notable celebrities Bobby Valentine, Mitch Williams, Craig Breslow, Brandon Duckworth, Vince Papale, Bryan Propp, Gervase Peterson, Ed Randall, and The Phillie Phanatic.
Bailey, a native of southern New Jersey, who also serves as Director of Development for The Strike 3 Foundation, summarized the night by saying “By all accounts the Bailey Bowl was a success. We exceeded all of my expectations in terms of dollars raised, guests attended, and awareness raised. I am looking forward to continuing to make a positive impact on the community in which I was raised.”
WWE Hall of Fame ring announcer Howard Finkel served as the master of ceremonies, and oversaw a program that awarded a Strike 3 Foundation Bailey Bowl Courage and Inspiration Award to Michael Monaco. Monaco, 29 overcame a lengthy battle with the rare cancer alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, after being diagnosed at 18.
Strike 3 Founder and Executive Director Craig Breslow, praised the work of Bailey and others, “I am incredibly impressed with the organization and execution of this event. I am proud of the work that has been done to bring a Strike 3 presence to southern New Jersey, and to be able to present a sizable gift to CHOP, representing the 5th treatment and research center to benefit from the Strike 3 umbrella. Kudos to Andrew and his staff, and to the guests that generously supported this event.”
